We are pleased to announce the launchment of Critic|all V International Conference on Architectural Design & Criticism, organized by the Architectural Design Department of Madrid School of Architecture and Department of Architecture of TU Delft, to be held from 10 to 11 October 2023.

In its fifth edition, we propose to turn our attention to words, as a basic instrument for the construction of architectural culture and theory. Its vocabulary is in constant evolution so it might be worth to critically address the uses and misuses, the creation and wearing, the transformation and timeliness of the words with which architecture is – or has been – described, historized or updated through time. For that reason, we forward the term e(time)ologies as the title for the Conference, thus suggesting the importance of looking into etymological lines in two opposite time directions: one pointing to roots and sources, the other to future visions and transformations.

The call for abstracts is now open. The full Call for Papers and all information can be found at www.criticall.es  On top of many distinguished members of the Scientific Committee, we are proud to count on Adrian Forty (UCL) as confirmed keynote speaker.

Nos complace anunciar el lanzamiento de Critic|all V International Conference on Architectural Design & Criticism, organizado por el Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos de la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid y el Departamento de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Delft, que tendrá lugar los días 10 y 11 de octubre de 2023.

En su cuarta edición, proponemos enfocar la atención en las palabras como instrumento básico para la construcción de la cultura y la teoría de la arquitectura. Su vocabulario está en constante evolución por lo que vale la pena abordar críticamente los usos y desusos, la creación y el desgaste, la transformación y la actualidad de las palabras con las que la arquitectura es -o ha sido- descrita, historizada o actualizada a lo largo del tiempo. Por eso, proponemos el término e(time)ologies como título del Congreso, sugiriendo así la importancia de observar las líneas etimológicas en dos sentidos temporales opuestos: uno apuntando a las raíces y las fuentes, el otro a visiones y transformaciones futuras.
