David Casino es Doctor Arquitecto y Máster en Proyectos Arquitectónicos Avanzados por la ETSAM, UPM. En la actualidad es Profesor Ayudante Doctor en el Departamento de Proyectos Arquitectónicos en la ETSAM y miembro del Grupo de Investigación Cultura del Hábitat. Ha sido profesor de proyectos en la Escuela de Arquitectura, Ingeniería y Diseño de la Universidad Europea de Madrid (2011-2019) y en IE School of Architecture (2011-2013).
Ha realizado estancias internacionales de investigación en TU Delft (2015-2016) y ha escrito artículos en las publicaciones indexadas RITA, REIA y Cuaderno de Notas, entre otras. Su Tesis Doctoral Ground-Notations. Estrategias de enraizamiento en la obra de Alison y Peter Smithson (Doctorado Internacional cum laude) refleja su interés en la manipulación del plano del suelo como táctica de mediación entre la arquitectura y el contexto.
Ha sido coeditor de la Revista Europea de Investigación en Arquitectura, REIA (2014-2021) y comisario del ciclo de conferencias del DPA argument#3 Making Matters (2019) dedicado a los procesos de producción arquitectónica centrados en la materia.
En 2005 funda ZZA zigzag arquitectura junto a Bernardo Angelini. El trabajo desarrollado en el estudio ha sido premiado en numerosos concursos de ideas y obra construida, entre los que destaca el Premio Arquitectura en la XI Bienal Española de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, además de otros importantes reconocimientos, como los obtenidos en los AR+D Awards for Emerging Architecture, Ugo Rivolta European Architecture Awards, V Premios Enor de Arquitectura y III Premio Arquia Próxima. Su obra ha sido difundida en publicaciones nacionales e internacionales como AV, Arquitectura Viva, a+t, C3, The Architectural Review, Lotus, Area Magazine o Summa+, y mostrada en diferentes exposiciones colectivas

David Casino holds a PhD in Architecture and a Master in Advanced Architecture from ETSAM, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He is currently Assistant Professor at the Architectural Design Department at ETSAM and member of the Research Group Cultura del Habitat. He has also taught in other institutions such as Universidad Europea de Madrid (2011-2019) and IE School of Architecture (2011-2013).
He has carried out international research stays at TU Delft (2015-2016) and has written articles in the indexed journals RITA, REIA, and Cuaderno de Notas, among others. His PhD thesis Ground-Notations. Grounding Strategies in the work of Alison and Peter Smithson (International PhD cum laude) reflects his interest in the manipulation of the ground as a tactic of mediation between architecture and context.
He has been co-editor of REIA (2014-2021) and curator of the DPA’s lecture series argument#3 Making Matters (2019) on architectural production processes centred around matter.
In 2005 he founded ZZA zigzag arquitectura with Bernardo Angelini. The work developed in the studio has received numerous awards, including the Architecture Prize at the 11th Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, as well as other important recognitions, such as those obtained at the AR+D Awards for Emerging Architecture, Ugo Rivolta European Architecture Awards, V Enor Architecture Awards and III Arquia Próxima Award. His work has been published in national and international publications such as AV, Arquitectura Viva, a+t, C3, The Architectural Review, Lotus, Area Magazine, or Summa+, and shown in different collective exhibitions.
